The Olympic Games

 On a summer evening in 2012, eight men took their places at the start of a race in London Olympic Stadium. It was the 100 meters final, and these men were some of the best, fastest, and most famous athletes in the world. (p.1) 
The Olympics are one of the most biggest sports competition in the world. It is because a lot of athletes from all over the world take part in this competition, and they try to win a gold medal, and many people around the world watch this competition through TV. Olympic has a long history. The Ancient Olympic was first heals in Ancient Greece about 2800 years ago. And there was race about 200 meters, and a man from the Greek city of Elis won. During the Olympic Games, everyone stopped fighting and doing wars. Modern Olympics started in 1896, thanks to a French thinker and writer. It was held also in Athens, Greece. The first Winter Olympic was held in Chamonix, France in 1924. 258 athletes competed in it. And only 241 athletes from fourteen countries took part in the first Modern Olympic Games. But, today thousands of athletes from all over the world compete at the Olympics. The Olympics are held every four years around the world. In 2016, it was first held in South America.  The Modern Olympic Games are held in all over the world, and everyone has its own character. The host country of the Olympics build new venues and it cost too much money. The country have a wonderful opening ceremony and next Olympics Games’ host country does some performance at an ending ceremony. Many new sports are added as an official sports of the Olympic Games. Many hero appeared in some Olympic Games, for example, the person who got full score at gymnastic competition, the person who took part in the marathon with no shoes and people who won many medals. After the Olympic Games, Paralympic is held the same country of the year’s Olympics’ host country. There were few participants at the first time, but now a lot of athletes take part in this big competition.


 I didn't know much about Olympics, especially Ancient Olympic, but I can know much about Olympic Games through this book. In 2020, Tokyo in Japan will hold it. So I'm looking forward to watching it very much.
